Hair straighteners are one of those items that would have seemed like science fiction to women a few decades ago. They may even have questioned the need for them. In fact ceramic is used in straighteners, curlers, clippers and rollers due to its ability to get super hot and to do it quickly. Ceramic is generally regarded as causing less damage to the hair. In the case of tourmaline hair straighteners the ceramic is replaced with the tourmaline gem which is also said to have natural healing properties.
